A brief history of the school

In 2002 the founders of ISC invited educationalists and others experts from the International School of Milan (ISM) in the early management and development of the new venture. The ISM, founded in 1958, is now the largest provider of international education in Italy, with schools in Milan, Monza, Rome and Modena – there are over 1200 students in the Milan campuses. ISM is an established International Baccalaureate school, and its philosophy and ethos is clearly summarized in the motto that has been used since 1958 - “for a world without frontiers”.

The ISC benefits from the experience of ISM, but it has developed into a distinctive school rather than a copy of the partners. It was accredited as an IB World school in 2006 and joined a group of over 1,500 IBO schools across the world.

The school is conducting a self- study process getting ready for the IB- Evaluation Visit, expected in May 2010.

In the current school year the International School of Como opened its Middle School section.
